The agenda of woke culture has moved from ridiculous to delusional to forced participation in delusional thoughts and behaviors. It seems that reasonable people are being forced to share in the delusion of those who are uncertain of their gender, pronouns, or sexuality.

This reminds me of a popular television program from a few decades ago called M*A*S*H. One of the characters on the wildly popular program was a man named Corporal Maxwell Q. Klinger. Corporal Klinger wanted to desperately get out of the army. He attempted to do this by obtaining a section eight dismissal. A section eight is defined by one source as “a category of discharge from the United States military, used for a service member judged mentally unfit for service.” He tried to accomplish this by dressing up as a woman.

The man who played Corporal Klinger was named Jamie Farr who was a Lebanese American actor. As one might imagine, he was a rather “hairy” man who look completely ridiculous in women’s clothing and high heels. He did this for one reason. He wanted the leadership to believe that he was delusional and mentally deranged to the extent that he would be given a section eight, so he could leave the military.

To the credit of the characters playing Klinger’s superior officers, they did not buy his act. Despite his many attempts to convince several officers of his insanity, they did not participate in his delusion. As Klinger’s character progressed through the show, he matured to the extent of wearing regular military clothing.

While the officers above corporal Klinger did not accept his contrived insanity, our society begs to differ. Many people in our nation want you to participate in their delusion and are attempting to force people to do so. In some cases, they are making it a violation of the law to ignore their delusion.

There is in fact a diagnosis regarding a mental disorder for those who believe that they are a person of the opposite gender trapped in the wrong body. The following definition is given of the disorder. “The DSM-5-TR defines gender dysphoria in adolescents and adults as a marked incongruence between one’s experienced/expressed gender and their assigned gender, lasting at least 6 months…”1 Even so, some people are attempting to make such notions reasonable and acceptable. It does not matter that there is an official diagnosis in a nationally recognized psychological diagnostic manual—people want you to accept their delusion.

Headlines that scroll across any computer’s homepage underscore this phenomenon. One that has been seen recently reads, “Transgendered Man Proves that Men Can Have Babies.”2 A “Transgendered Man” is really a biological woman who thinks she is a woman trapped in a man’s body. So, what the headline demonstrates is nothing new. The “transgendered man” is a

biological female who got pregnant. No real news here. One wonders though, how many people buy into the idea that this is a pregnant man?!

Moreover, there are more delusions that exist in our society. One source alleges that there are seventy-two more genders beyond male and female.3 As one reads through the list, it becomes evident that most of these terms are made up to fit one’s fantasy of how they identify. More delusion, but if you refuse to participate you might suffer legal consequences. If you use the wrong pronoun, you might be fined or imprisoned. The craziness continues unabated in our society.

The delusions we see in our nation are very akin to what Paul writes about as he addresses the brethren in the book of Romans. He says in Romans 1:18-25, “For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Therefore God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.”

Our nation would do well to ponder the words of Paul and consider the internal failure of the Roman Empire. Internal moral corruption caused their society to implode. One wonders how far away from implosion our nation is. Proverbs 14:34 says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.”
